Lisa Pak is a second-generation Korean-Canadian and a Toronto native. After graduating with an Honours BA in Philosophy and Religion from the University of Toronto, she studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity (MDiv) and a Master of Arts in Biblical Languages (MABL). She then enrolled in the Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC) department at Harvard Graduate School of Studies, intending to focus on Old Testament archaeology and languages. However, God had different plans and called Lisa to full-time ministry at Onnuri Community Church in Seoul, South Korea, where she was ordained by the Korean Association of Independent Churches and Missions (KAICAM) in 2007. In 2009, Lisa returned to Canada to serve as the Education Director and Russian Ministry Lead Pastor at the Light Presbyterian Church in Mississauga, Ontario. In 2016, she served as the English-speaking and Missions pastor at Korean Church in Singapore. Her experiences in the Korean diaspora church allowed her to travel and speak around the world. It was in this context that her two passions, youth ministry and missions, came together. Lisa joined the Canadian Bible Society as the Regional Director for Ontario and Nunavut in 2017. She now serves as the Global Strategist for Finishing the Task (FTT) with Pastor Rick Warren, where she encourages strategic collaboration for the sake of the Great Commission and advocates for women leaders and rising generations. She also serves on the Boards of Crossroads Christian Media and Global Gates Canada. Later it changed its name to Toronto Bible College and in 1968 merged with the London College of Bible and Missions to become Ontario Bible College. The Seminary was established in 1976 to offer graduate theological education. In 1998, the name Tyndale was assumed, honouring William Tyndale (1494-1536), the early English reformer whose commitment to making Scripture available to all persons led him to undertake the first English translation of the Bible from original languages. He is a model for scholarship, faith, and vision. In 2003, following a robust review by the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB), Tyndale was granted university college status by the Province of Ontario. In 2007, Tyndale received approval from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and from the Ontario College of Teachers to offer a Bachelor of Education program. The Seminary’s graduate degrees, including the Doctor of Ministry degree, are accredited by The Commission on Accrediting of The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. In early 2020, following another review by PEQAB and their recommendation to the Ministry, Ministerial consent was granted to use the name Tyndale University. Tyndale’s name was legally changed in December 2020 through an act of legislation to Tyndale University to clarify its standing as a postsecondary institution that focuses on high-quality academics and professional programs at the undergraduate, seminary and graduate levels. Undergraduate level options include a BA, BBA, BRE, and BEd degree or a certificate in Christian Studies. Graduate level options include an MA, MTS, MDiv, DMin, post-DMin, or graduate diploma. Tyndale presently serves 1,600 students annually representing more than 40 denominations and 60 ethnic backgrounds. Today, Tyndale alumni are making a difference in the world and are working in private, public and not-for-profit sectors. [ Page ] 14 [ Page 15 of 16 ] [ Heading 16 ] MISSION STATEMENT Tyndale is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, to excellence in teaching, learning and research, for the enriching of mind, heart and character, to serve the church and the world for the glory of God.
