Later known as Toronto Bible College, it merged with the London College of Bible and Missions in 1968 to become Ontario Bible College. The Seminary was established in 1976 to offer graduate theological education. In 1998, the name Tyndale was assumed, honouring William Tyndale (1494-1536), the early English reformer whose commitment to making Scripture available to all persons led him to undertake the first English translation of the Bible. He is a model for scholarship, faith, and vision. In 2003, Tyndale was accorded university college status by the Province of Ontario. In 2007, Tyndale received approval from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and from the Ontario College of Teachers to offer a Bachelor of Education program. The Seminary's graduate degrees, including the Doctor of Ministry degree, are accredited by The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS). In 2007, Tyndale purchased the Morrow Park property from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto. Tyndale is an evangelical, multi-denominational school with more than 9,500 alumni. [ Heading 3.2 ] THE MISSION Tyndale is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, to excellence in teaching, learning and research, for the enriching of mind, heart and character, to serve the church and the world for the glory of God. He obtained Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University and continued his studies to complete the Chartered Public Accountant (CPA) and the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations in 2008. With close to ten years of career experience in finance, Carson is shaped to think strategically, analytically, and critically. Carson has been an active leader in both local and para church ministries. With a great passion in evangelism and worship, he continues to collaborate with churches of different denominations in organizing worship and evangelistic events. In 2009, he became the Ministry Director of Grace Melodia Toronto while serving as a worship ministry leader at Calvary Logos Baptist Church. With increasing responsibilities in leading, preaching, and evangelizing, Carson felt the crucial need to be at Tyndale for a theological education. Concurrent with his full-time studies at Tyndale that began in 2013, he worked at Richmond Hill Christian Community Church as a Student Intern, mainly servicing the young adult congregations. Since 2014, the vocation of receiving theological training at Tyndale has also been extended to his wife, Stephanie Tsui, who serves as both Carson's life and ministry companion. Carson and Stephanie strongly believe that their family is called to serve as one unit. Testifying the love of Christ and bringing people to faith continue to serve as their greatest motivation in ministry. [ Page 15 of 16 ] [ Heading 11 ] HONORARY DOCTORATE [ Heading 11.1 ] Minho Song Minho Song was born in South Korea and immigrated to Canada in the 70's. He came to know the Lord Jesus Christ in his first week of study in university and, shortly after, received a call to ministry. Since 2004, he has been the senior pastor of Young Nak Korean Presbyterian Church of Toronto, a faith community he has been with since 1988. He also served as a missionary with OMF, teaching at Asian Theological Seminary in the Philippines while his wife Meja taught at Faith Academy. Pastor Song's passion is to help transform churches to be more missional. Believing firmly that all the members of the church have been sent to the world to be part of God's Mission, he has been guiding Young Nak church to be missional, with a strong emphasis not only on overseas missions to Kyrgyzstan and Cambodia but also on local outreaches to South East Asians living in the Greater Toronto Area. Pastor Song also believes in training and raising up God's workers for the next generation. He served for many years as both board member and president of the Catalyst Leadership Inc., an organization dedicated to help raise healthy leaders for Asian churches in North America. In the more recent years, he has been serving as adjunct professor at Asian Research Institute of Language and Culture in Handong University, South Korea, and at Asian Theological Seminary, Philippines, training future missionaries and pastors. He studied at University of British Columbia (BA), Regent College (MDiv, ThM) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (PhD in Intercultural Studies). He is married to Meja Song for 32 years and has three grown children. He enjoys either watching or playing soccer. 15 [ Page 16 of 16 ] [ The Tyndale crest is on the left of the page. ] [ Heading 12 ] TYNDALE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE 3377 Bayview Avenue Toronto, Ontario, M2M 3S4 Telephone: 416.226.6620 Fax: 416.226.6746 www.tyndale.ca ***** This is the end of the e-text.
