Abstract

Providence University College and Theological Seminary is a school of Christian Higher Education that seeks to offer education from a holistic perspective. As a faculty member of this college, the purpose of this study was to develop my understanding of holistic education, working in collaboration with faculty and students at Providence University College and faculty at a select group of sister schools outside of Providence. This study involved interviewing sixteen Christian Higher Education faculty members and conducting seven focus groups involving the student leadership and faculty of Providence University College and Seminary. This study found that holistic education is a multifaceted philosophy of education that incorporates relationships in the learning process, fosters student character, and draws the whole person into the learning experience.
