Abstract
The Bridegroom Songs is the first known Apostolic Pentecostal hymnal, published in 1916 by the
Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW), the first legally recognized Apostolic Pentecostal organization in the United States. The hymnal reflects the community's commitment to the "apostolic gospel," which is the plan of salvation, the revelatory character of the Name, the mystery of God in Christ, and the impending Kingdom. Therefore, this doctrinal study will show that The Bridegroom Songs emerged in response to the PAW's new Apostolic conception of God and its collective need to articulate (worship), indoctrinate (theology), and reinforce faith (spirituality).
